Solastalgia
Solastalgia is the pain experienced when there is recognition that the place where one resides and that one loves is under immediate assault. It is manifest in an attack on one’s sense of place, in the erosion of the sense of belonging to a particular place and a feeling of distress about its transformation.
This self-initiated short film is a creative expression of the psychological toll of climate change and a love poem of gratitude to our shared living planet. It is an invitation to find solace and healing in acceptance, gratitude, and reconnecting with the living world around us.
The short film was shot in North Vancouver, Tofino, and Meares Island on Tla-o-qui-aht territory.
